Join Me in Designing The Lovely Wishes greeting card Collection!

First things first: deciding what’s going into this delightful collection. The vision? Soft, dreamy watercolors! This collection is all about capturing gentle hues, nature-inspired elements, textured backgrounds, and, of course, a little bit of glam with gold foiling.

Once the mood board is in place (think of it as a snapshot of my brain’s colorful daydream), I move on to the next challenge—choosing the right font. Fonts are tricky little things, aren’t they? They set the whole vibe! After much agonising and squinting at the screen, “Dancing Script” emerged as the star of the show, bringing that perfect, cohesive touch to the collection.

Now for the fun part: designing! I fire up Procreate to sketch and illustrate my cards. It’s the perfect playground before everything gets transferred to Adobe Illustrator for the finishing touches. (Quick tip: always make sure your artwork is the right size for print and at least 300dpi, or it’ll look like a pixelated mess when you move it over to Illustrator. You’re welcome.)

Next up, I move my design into Adobe Illustrator, slap it onto my card template, and make sure no sentiments are lurking in the bleed zone. Then, I save everything as PDFs, upload them to my printer’s system, and place the order for my proofs. Fun fact: my entire process is UK-based, which means I’m doing my bit to keep the business carbon footprint as low as possible & eco-friendly!

Now comes the moment of truth—waiting for those proofs. The excitement builds as I rip open the package. Sometimes they’re perfect, sometimes they need a little tweaking, and other times, well, they’re banished to a pile, never to be spoken of again.

Once I’ve landed on designs I’m thrilled with, I place the final order and, naturally, stress myself out for the next few weeks as I await their arrival.
And then… drumroll… they arrive, in all their glory, as lovely as I’d hoped! Time for a photoshoot. I’m the photographer for now, though I dream of the day when I can hire a professional. It’s quite the task to get the perfect shot, but for now, I think my photos do the trick if I do say so myself!
